The security men attached to the Media Centre at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium here in Rustenburg, on Sunday evening foiled what would have been an ugly scene, when they arrested a middle aged Nigerian soccer fan, who attempted to attack the Super Eagles Head Coach Stephen Keshi, moment after the Eagles quarter-final match against Cote d’Ivoire.
The man, who was wearing a Super Eagles shirt and brown trousers, was stopped at the entrance into the Media Centre, as journalists were moving into the hall for the day’s post match briefing with the coaches and captains of the two national teams.
One of the security officers told this reporter that the man said his sole mission to the Media Centre was to slap Keshi for removing Victor Moses and bringing in Joseph Yobo towards the end of the match, at the time Moses’ services were most needed.
Media could not get further information as to what happened after his arrest, as our reporter left the scene for the media briefing while he was whisked away by two security personnel.
