Obj Never Met Ribadu Before Appointing Him and Dangote sponsored His 2003 Election— El-Rufai
According to the former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Malam Nasir Elrufai, former President Obasanjo had never met Nuhu Ribadu before appointing him as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Nuhu Ribadu was nominated by Obasanjo's former Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Agabi for the job and Obasano obliged.
Elrufai also alleged that Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, financed Obasanjo's 2003 election in which he defeated Major General Muhammadu Buhari.

"In 2003 and thereafter, Aliko Dangote became very prominent in government circles, because, on the sugegestion of Late Waziri Mohammed, Aliko Dangote financed Obasanjo 2003 re-election, nearly single handedly without any strings attached to it. He did it because his friend Waziri said Obasajo needed help and that was all it took"
