For An End Game for Boko Haram, Spend Those Trillions on Education.
For An End Game for Boko Haram, Spend Those Trillions on Education.

As Albert Einsten once said “We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them”. The challenge of terrorism and ostensibly faith and cult based intolerance, partly manifested in the Boko Haram insurgency, that we face in Nigeria was created at the level of ignorance. I have heard truly scholarly discussions and even in the last month at the CVL Faith and tolerance conference, the Chaplain of the University of Lagos House of Assembly spoke passionately about Islam as a religion of peace and one not opposed to Western education. That being the case the only solution is to fight ignorance with knowledge.
The top commanders of Boko Haram are not doing anything new. They do not believe that Boko or Book is Haram. If they really did would they be using Western weapons to fight? Would they be using Western media such as YouTube and other social media to communicate with journalists? Of course not. Malam Shekau was almost caught last year when he visited his wife in Kano and he escaped with the aid of a fast car, another fruit of Western Education. Thus it is safe to say that he and his top commanders are not against Western Education. Besides some of the leaders of the group are known to be University graduates. It would seem that they are revolutionaries in Boko Haram, whose goal is to overthrow the current establishment in Northern Nigeria just like their compatriots did in Somalia and their strategy in doing that is to take advantage of the massive illiteracy that is the bane of the Northern population.

KANO (AFP) – The purported head of Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram has claimed two recent deadly attacks in the northeast in a video obtained by AFP Monday, which also depicts women and children apparently being held hostage.
The video features Abubakar Shekau, declared a global terrorist by the United States, seated on a rug with a kalashnikov resting behind his right shoulder.
“We are the ones that carried out the Bama attack,” Shekau said in the Hausa language, referring to the May 7 assault that killed 55 people, mostly soldiers and police.

Breaking News: Court Sentences Iranian Accused of Importing Arms to Nigeria to 5 Years

Azim Aghajani, the Iranian who was accused and charged to a Lagos court for importing sophisticated weapons into Nigeria in October of 2010 has just been sentenced to 5 years imprisnment by a Lagos court. Also sentenced is his Nigerian accomplice, Usman Abbas Jega.
It would be recalled that in October of 2010, 13 containers laden with weapons were intercepted in Lagos port. Their origin was established to be from Iran and the importer ran into the Iranian embassy in Abuja before he could be arrested a situation that prompted a standoff that lasted until the Iranian foreign minister visited Nigeria and negotiated Aghajani's release to Nigerian security officials.
Aghajani is believed to be a member of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guard. Rckets and grenades were amongst the items found in his 13 containers. Nigeria is currently facing an insurgency by Islamic terrorists whose source of funding and arms remain a mystery.
