Subsidy: Presidency Stands Firm - "No Marketer Should Be Paid Unless They Are Cleared Of Fraudulent Practices"

alt

More facts have emerged on how the Ministry of Finance resisted pressure from pro-marketers lobbyists who had pushed to get the Federal Government to pay their disputed claims as a way of resolving recent pro-marketers strike action by a section of the labour movement.

Information gathered revealed that the lobbyists had infiltrated government and were banking on getting a presidential directive to force the finance minister to reverse the stoppage of their payments, but were shocked when they met brick wall from the Presidency. Add a comment

Babangida Replies Jonathan, Says Onshore/offshore dichotomy Not Settled.

Babangida Replies Jonathan, Says Onshore/offshore dichotomy Not Settled.

Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu

Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has responded to the statement from the Presidency which warned politicians heating up the polity and using the settled onshore/offshore dichotomy to refrain from such actions.
It will be recalled that the presidency had issued a statement in which it had called for caution. Part of the statement said "The Presidency views with grave concern the current attempt by some politicians to heat up the polity by seeking to reopen fresh conflict and controversy over the onshore/offshore abrogation law which was enacted by the National Assembly in 2004.
"Some of the pronouncements are disruptive, outrightly mischievous, and aimed at causing disaffection. The Presidency strongly advises such politicians to desist from playing up sectional and ethnic sentiments, over a matter that was addressed eight years ago to the benefit of all parties concerned.

Why I Called on Jonathan to Resign-Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Gumi

Renowned Kaduna-based Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi Sheikh Ahmad Gumi yesterday explained how he survived the recent suicide bomb attack along Ali Akilu Road near his house in Kaduna, saying the attack was hatched by elements trying to spark war between Muslims and non Muslims.

Speaking at a media chat organized by Desert Herald newspaper in Kaduna, Gumi said, “That same morning I was contacted by an army officer from the Nigerian Army Headquarters who told me that in today’s security meeting; my name was top on the list of names of people who are going to be eliminated by the so called Boko Haram. The Naked Prince of England

Written by Culled From SUN UK.

The Naked Prince of England

TODAY The Sun is publishing the naked Prince Harry party pictures our readers have been prevented from seeing in print.

We are doing so despite warnings from the Royal Family’s lawyers — and we’ll explain why.

Before we do, let’s be clear on one thing.

The Sun is NOT making any moral judgement about Harry’s nude frolics with girls in a Las Vegas hotel. Far from it. He often sails close to the wind for a Royal — but he’s 27, single and a soldier. We like him.

We are publishing the photos because we think Sun readers have a right to see them.

The reasons for that go beyond this one story.

The images were first published on the web three days ago. But the Palace’s lawyers, via the Press Complaints Commission, warned the UK’s newspapers against printing them, claiming they would breach Harry’s privacy and the PCC Code. Add a comment

Written by Alaba Johnson (with Daily Trust reports).

The federal Government should stop the contract given to former top Niger Delta militants Dokubo-Asari, Tompolo and others to guard pipelines or else Boko Haram members should be invited and given such contract, National President of African Youths for Conflict Resolution and Prevention Dr Suleiman Shuaibu, said in Kaduna yesterday.
